Job summary

University of Central Missouri is seeking a cook/food service worker for the Child Care Centers Foster-Knox in Warrensburg. You will prepare and serve meals, create weekly menus, and manage shopping lists.

Morning hours, 25 hours per week, with an anticipated start in November 2026. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least six months of food preparation experience; nutrition background preferred and responsibilities include record-keeping, safety, and coordinating

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in food preparation/cooking.
• Nutrition background/training preferred.
• Lead worker: assigns, trains, schedules, oversees, or reviews the work of others.
• 1-3 student employees, including a Graduate Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch following established menu, serving sizes and times.
• Review and revise recipes for bulk food production.
• Create weekly menus and shopping lists.
• Organize and/or prepare snacks following established menu, serving sizes and times.
• Establish a routine that enables baked goods to be prepared in advance.
• Maintain complete, accurate records of weekly food purchases and production forms.
• Analyze and develop cost-effective menus and shopping lists; purchase local items; inventory and request purchases.
• Oversee proper maintenance of the kitchen and supplies; ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness; assist with laundry as needed.

Job description

Devise and update weekly menus and shopping lists. Purchase food weekly. Prepares and serves meals for the children at the Child Care Centers. Maintains complete and accurate records of food purchased and prepared. Child Care Centers Foster-Knox provides child care services to the University and the Warrensburg community.

• Maintain complete, accurate records of weekly food purchases and food production forms daily. 8%
• Analyze and develop menus and shopping lists to be cost-effective. Purchase local food items and supplies from established shopping lists; may substitute for seasonal or special-priced items. Inventory and request purchases from a university-contracted food source or service.12%
• Oversee proper maintenance of the kitchen and kitchen supplies. Assure all food storage and preparation areas are completed in a safe, clean and sanitary manner. Assist with laundry duties when needed. 5%

Experience:

This position requires:

• Post-Offer Physical Exam Required, within 30 days of employment
• Fingerpringing
• Child Care Security Check- Family Care Safety Registration completed after fingerprinting
• Valid US driver's license
• TB Screening as required by licensing
• CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of employment: must be pediatric CPR

Working Hours and Day:

Morning hours Monday through Friday, equal 25 hours a week (7:00am - 12:0pm)
