Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Schulenburg, TX is seeking a production operator for night shift. You will batch and cook products, add ingredients to the Liquifier, monitor process parameters, and ensure product quality. You will document lots and quantities, operate safely, and support inventory accuracy in SAP.

The role requires basic math, English communication, and the ability to work in a team. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with an increase to $23.66 after 90 days, plus a $0.50/hour shift

Qualifications

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must attain Forklift Operator License within 30 days of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Add ingredients to Liquifier for specific recipe and begin processing.
• Monitor ingredient amounts, mixing times, and homogenizer specs.
• Inspect product/ingredients for defects and inform supervisor.
• Obtain samples and deliver to lab promptly.
• Keep a clean, organized workstation and manage waste.
• Report machinery or quality issues and submit work orders as needed.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely and use PPE.
• Perform CIP sanitizing procedures.
• Assist with salsa production tasks as needed.
• Maintain accurate inventory and product traceability in SAP.
• Document lots, quantities, and times accurately.
• Adhere to DFA GMPs and sanitation requirements.
• Assist in training new operators.
• Work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00 PM–4:00 AM; possible Saturdays; starting pay $18.50, increase to $23.66 at 90 days.

Job description

• Adds ingredients to Liquifier for specific recipe being produced and begins processing.
• Monitors and ensures accuracy of ingredient amounts, mixing times, homogenizer pressure temperature specifications, etc. for product being produced.
• Examines product and/or ingredients for any noticeable defects, i.e., questionable appearances, odors, etc., and informs supervisor.
• Obtains all necessary samples of product and delivers samples to lab in a timely manner.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area at all times, i.e. hosing off ingredient dust from tanks, discarding ingredient bags, making sure floor area is free of debris, etc..
• Reports machinery or quality issues to Supervisor as they occur and submits work orders when necessary.
• Handles cleaning chemicals in a safe manner utilizing safety equipment such as gloves, eyewear, etc.
• Performs CIP sanitizing utilizing procedures and methods.
• Assists Downstairs Operator with diced tomato pumping and breaking down of totes during salsa runs.
• Utilize scanners or thin client units to make SAP transaction for the purpose of maintain accurate inventory levels and ensuring reliable product traceability.
• Accurately documents lots, quantities, times, and ingredients.
• Follows all DFA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory quality, and sanitation requirements.
• Performs items on Master Sanitation lists when production is not running.
• Maintain safe environment and perform other duties in a safe manner at all times.
• Assists in training new operator.
• Ability to function in a team based structure and positively contributes to team based effort
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Possible Saturdays based on Demand
