Gourmet - Cook Positions

We are hiring immediately for on-call Cook positions at Gourmet Dining & Chartwells Higher Education.

Location: Rutgers Athletics - 1 Scarlet Knight Way, Piscataway, NJ 08854. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: On-call; days and hours may vary. More details upon interview.

Requirement: Prior culinary experience preferred.

Pay Range: $18.00 to $19.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Prepare food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, ensuring quality service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Prepare high-quality food items according to recipes and instructions to meet schedules.
  2. Serve meals or prepare for delivery, ensuring proper portioning, temperature, and presentation.
  3. Use established ticket procedures during service; maintain records.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas, following safe food handling procedures.
  5. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
  6. Assist in production planning, record keeping, and ordering supplies.
  7. Report maintenance issues or accidents immediately.
  8. Attend safety and in-service meetings.
  9. Maintain good working relationships and perform duties safely.
  10. Follow HACCP standards and safety policies, including proper glove and glove use, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
