Overview:

This individual is responsible for food production across all areas of the department. A knowledge of various cooking methods is required. The individual must produce quality, visually appealing products within specified timeframes. Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Description:
  • Represent Mercy and the department positively by adhering to Mercy Service Standards when dealing with customers.
  • Complete Serve Safe Certification within the first six months and maintain current certification.
  • Present food products and displays attractively.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area and displays.
  • Demonstrate proper portion control.
  • Keep accurate records as per policy and procedure.
  • Know methods of short order cookery.
  • Implement basic cooking techniques such as chopping, slicing, steaming, grilling, and re-heating.
  • Follow department-approved recipes for food preparation.
  • Use and clean all kitchen equipment properly.
  • Communicate needs for items and products via email promptly.
  • Set up and take down catering events correctly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Wear clothing and badge according to dress code, maintain personal hygiene, and observe universal precautions. Meet attendance standards.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Excellent integrity, initiative, moral character, basic math skills, time management, interpersonal skills.
  • Working Conditions: Use of food prep equipment (oven, grill, chopper, slicer, blender, mixer, steamer). Ability to push, pull, grip 50 pounds, and pinch 10 pounds.
