The Cook is responsible for preparing food for facility use, assisting in menu planning, and maintaining daily meal counts, inventories, menu planning books, and food orders. The role adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on patient contact level.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and perform basic math
• Preferred: 1 year of previous food service experience as a cook or in a Food Prep 1 position
• Children's Place and IMH only: Experience with the Federal School Lunch Program is preferred. Must communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)

Responsibilities

The Cook’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing and portioning food for patients, employees, and special functions
• Performing various baking tasks
• Cleaning and properly using equipment; reporting repairs as needed; maintaining sanitation standards in line with Oklahoma State Health Department guidelines
• Documenting meals and snacks served daily for Children's Place and IMH in accordance with Federal School Lunch guidelines; reporting to the leader as assigned

This position may involve additional physical demands and respiratory fit test requirements. Consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or Risk Management/Employee Health for details. There is some risk of cuts, burns, and slips. The role involves exposure to heat from stoves, cold from the walk-in freezer, and chemicals used for cleaning.
