Job summary

Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) seeks a motivated kitchen worker to prepare and cook diverse menu items for on-base dining operations. You will follow recipes, adjust portions, and ensure food is served safely while maintaining inventory and sanitation standards.

  • Follows recipes to prepare items such as soups, stews, casseroles, gravies, sauces, hot cereals, syrups, meatloaf, meatballs, hamburgers, and croquettes. Adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities.
  • Brings prepared foods from preparation area to refrigerators or serving area. Picks up items needed for menu preparation; rotating food inventories as appropriate. Takes inventory to determine ordering requirements.
  • Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items. Uses , cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs unassisted and occasionally lift objects weighting over 40lbs with assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
  • A physical/medical certification is required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.

  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
