Base pay range
$19.00/yr - $22.75/yr
Duties
- Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables. Makes cold sandwich fillings. Sets up/replenishes salad bar.
- Prepares hot cereals/concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading.
- Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items. Mixes ingredients according to precisely written recipes. Covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures.
- Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Disassembles, cleans and assembles component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
- Uses and cleans a variety of cooking utensils to measure, weigh, and process food items. Cleans, stores, and maintains all equipment and work areas after each use. Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination.
- Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
Qualifications
Standard Qualifications:- Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable:
- Neatness and good grooming
- Dependability
- Ability to work under pressure

PCS Costs
- Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
- This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
Incentives and Bonuses
- Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
- Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
