Qualifications

  • Ability to work rotating schedules in maritime environments.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and provide healthy meals for vessel personnel daily.
  • Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, religious requirements, and cultural considerations.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the galley and storage areas.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and preparation of food and provisions.
  • Manage galley inventories and coordinate ordering with vessel leadership.
  • Promote cost-effective and efficient galley operations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and vessel hygiene requirements.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment in galley spaces.
  • Participate in emergency drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness activities.
  • Support implementation of the vessel SMS and operational procedures.
  • Complete required operational documentation, checklists, and risk assessments.
  • Utilize PPE and promote safe work practices.
  • Support morale and professionalism among vessel personnel.
  • Coordinate with deck, engineering, and support departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of vessel operations.

Job Summary

F3EA is seeking a qualified Cook to support maritime operations aboard operational vessels supporting dynamic mission requirements. This position is responsible for providing safe, healthy, and efficient food service and galley operations for vessel personnel while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational readiness.


The Cook serves as a key member of the vessel support team and is responsible for meal planning, food preparation, galley management, and supporting vessel safety and emergency preparedness activities. Personnel in this role are expected to uphold F3EA operational standards while reinforcing a culture of professionalism, accountability, safety, and teamwork.



Roles and Responsibilities


  • Plan, prepare, and provide healthy and varied meals for vessel personnel on a daily basis

  • Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, religious requirements, and cultural considerations

  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the galley and associated food storage areas

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and preparation of food and provisions

  • Manage galley inventories and coordinate ordering of provisions and supplies with vessel leadership

  • Promote cost-effective and efficient galley operations

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, vessel hygiene requirements, and safe work practices

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment within galley spaces

  • Participate in emergency drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness activities

  • Support implementation of the vessel Safety Management System (SMS) and operational procedures

  • Complete required operational documentation, checklists, and risk assessments

  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and promote safe work practices

  • Support positive morale and professionalism among vessel personnel

  • Coordinate effectively with deck, engineering, and support departments

  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of vessel operations and mission requirements



Supervisory Responsibilities


  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to maintain accountability and professionalism within galley operations.



Required Qualifications and Education


  • Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or maritime credentials as required by vessel operations

  • Valid STCW Basic Training certification or equivalent maritime safety training

  • Experience supporting food service or galley operations aboard vessels or in operational environments

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and galley operations

  • Ability to safely operate galley equipment and manage food inventories

  • Ability to work rotational schedules in maritime environments

  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance



Preferred Qualifications and Education


  • Prior maritime vessel galley or offshore catering experience

  • Experience supporting government maritime operations or defense-related missions

  • Prior military or government-contracted maritime experience

  • Experience operating in high operational tempo maritime environments



Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements


  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.



Physical Demands/Work Environment


  • Operational maritime and shipboard environment

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, vessel motion, and galley operations

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move food supplies and galley equipment

  • Extended periods standing and working in physically demanding environments

  • Ability to support rotational or extended underway operations as required
