Prepare and assemble baked goods, cook, season, and portion food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors, following menu and dietary guidelines. Maintain food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Perform cleaning duties to ensure sanitation in cooking and serving areas. Label and store food, equipment, and machinery appropriately. Aim to provide the highest quality and safest food possible.
Work collaboratively with internal teams, demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork skills. Follow standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines to ensure food safety. Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, fryers, and more. Be able to work independently and understand food safety and sanitation processes. Use basic math skills for measurements and follow recipes accurately. Be prepared to stand for long periods and walk considerable distances within the facility.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions. Basic math skills required. Minimum six months of relevant experience preferred; on-the-job training provided. May require ServSafe certification within a specified timeframe, depending on location. Additional endorsements or continuing education may be necessary. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending on the location. Valid driver’s license may be required if driving is necessary.
