Job summary

Derby Public Schools is seeking a Cook to assist in the preparation and serving of meals, and to help maintain kitchen facilities. The role supports district guidelines, communicates with staff, and ensures food is prepared on schedule with proper hygiene.

Applicants should have around three years in food preparation, and must complete required KSDE food safety training and ongoing annual continuing education for hours worked.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Three years experience in food preparation is preferred.

• Cooks working more than 20 hours per week must complete at least 6 hours of annual continuing education.
• Cooks working less than 20 hours per week must complete at least 4 hours of annual continuing education and training in order to meet USDA professional standards requirements. (This training is in addition to the food safety training required for the first year of employment.)
• Desire to continue career improvement.

• Inform Central Kitchen Manager of inferior product quality and products not meeting specifications.
