This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families.

Duties
- Leads a staff of 3 or more NA-04 and NA-06 cooks in the preparation of a variety of menu items; working with other workers, setting the pace performing non-supervisory work at the NL-06 level.
- Demonstrates proper work methods to other employees and answers procedural questions that they may have.
- Prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements.
- Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items.
- Takes inventory to determine ordering requirements.
Requirements

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
- Work is performed in kitchen areas, which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy.
- Employee is exposed to steam, fumes, odors from cooking, and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units.
- Must stand on tile floor.
- Subject to burns, cuts, and slipping on wet floors.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
- An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
- This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
- Must be willing to accept part-time employment.
- Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
- Work schedule will be irregular. The incumbent will be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or unique events.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess the following:- ability to lead or supervise employees engaged in cooking duties, AND
- possess work experience in food preparation, AND
- ability to perform Cook Leader duties independently (without more than normal supervision).
