Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a cook to prepare food according to standardized recipes under the supervision of the executive or sous chef. The role supports Harris Health’s mission to provide care with compassion and excellence across its hospitals and clinics in Harris County, Texas.

Responsibilities include high-volume food preparation, ensuring quality and food safety, and working weekends/holidays with flexible scheduling. A High School diploma or GED and Food Handlers Certification are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED; three years institutional cooking experience.
• Work experience: 2 years in food preparation; high-volume cooking preferred.
• License: Food Handlers Certification.
• Equipment Operated: oven, steam cookers, meat slicer, deep fat fryer and grill.
• Communication Skills: writing/composing (correspondence/reports).
• Other Skills: Math
