Overview

The incumbent in this position is responsible for properly preparing any and all foods listed on the respective menus that are to be grilled, fried, broiled, baked, boiled, braised, poached in an assigned kitchen outlet, or prepared in the pantry.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

  1. Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to choose Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain for gaming entertainment; actively builds and retains guest relations and mentors team members to provide superior guest service.
  2. Prepares foods using various methods (grilled, fried, broiled, baked, boiled, braised, poached, or pantry); ensures all dishes are aesthetically appealing and cooked to specifications.
  3. Recognizes a variety of sauces and applies them appropriately on all entrees featured on the daily menus.
  4. Keeps workstation neat and clean.
  5. Assists co-workers to ensure efficient kitchen operation.
  6. Performs duties for special events or parties as needed.
  7. Ensures cleanliness of the work area; reports equipment safety issues, hazards, and accidents.
  8. Properly stores foods, including leftovers from previous functions.
  9. Maintains stock levels and equipment functionality.
  10. Properly closes down workstations at shift end.
  11. Supports other duties at events, including carving, cooking, setup, teardown, and other tasks as assigned.
  12. Attends meetings and completes follow-up tasks as required.
  13. Season food according to recipes or company needs.
  14. Assists other cooks during food assembly.
  15. Performs cleaning duties before shift ends and maintains sanitation standards.
  16. Performs work consistently and reliably.
  17. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work and public spaces.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Typically acquired through a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Culinary apprenticeship, Associate’s Degree from a culinary institution, or equivalent experience preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must obtain and maintain valid licenses/certifications per regulations, pass background and drug screenings, and be at least 18 years old.
