Job summary

Deloitte University Hotel & Conference Center – Benchmark Hospitality, managed by Pyramid Global Hospitality, is seeking a Cook II to join our high-volume kitchen team. You will prep, line, grill, sauté and support banquet operations in a busy property outside Dallas.

We offer full-time employment with a $20.25 per hour wage, opportunities to work across multiple outlets, and a pathway for development through leadership programs and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Two years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen required.
• Culinary school preferred.
• Basic Food Safety certification required within 30 days of starting.
• Experience with international cuisines preferred.
• High-volume kitchen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and menu items according to standard recipes.
• Receive and store food requisitions and check quality.
• Inspect refrigeration and dry storage for proper handling.
• Ensure stations are set up, clean, and properly stored.
• Break down kitchen stations and return reusable items.
• Assist in other kitchens as needed (banquets, buffets, etc).

What you will have an opportunity to do

BASIC FUNCTION

The Cook II is a mid-level cook that will be responsible for a variety of cooking methods and cuisines and will assist in all areas of the kitchen – prep, line, grill, sauté and more. This position may work in our buffet restaurants, employee cafeteria or high-volume banquet operations.

Status: Full-Time Availability: Full Availability Payrate: $20.25 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepare food and menu items according to standard recipes
• Receiving and put away food requisitions checking for food products quality and amount
• Inspect all refrigeration and dry storage for proper handling and rotation
• Ensure that stations are set up for service but also clean and that all food items are properly covered and stored at the end of shift
• Ensure that kitchen stations and functions are properly broken down and the reusable items are returned to the main kitchen and put on proper shelf
• Assist in other kitchens within the hotel, as needed. This may include assisting in Banquets, buffet restaurants, a la carte restaurants, or social venues

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen is required
• Current internal employees with less than two years of experience may be considered if they can demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions of the Cook II role through successful job performance, completion of relevant training, food safety knowledge, and satisfactory supervisory assessment
• Culinary school preferred
• Experience cooking with International cuisines preferred
• Experience in a kitchen with guest contact, scratch cooking, high volume highly preferred
• Above average knife skills
• Basic Food Safety certification required within 30 days of starting position
