Overview

Prepare food of consistent quality and assist in kitchen functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
2. Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to overprepare estimated needs.
3. Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, ensuring perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
4. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup. Note any out-of-stock items or shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
5. Return all unused food items to designated storage areas, covering and dating perishables.
6. Assist in setting up plans to control food costs, waste, loss, and usage according to HEI standards.
7. Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, food processors, mixers, slicers, ovens, steam tables, tilt kettles, waffle irons, and flat-top grills.
8. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
9. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift and move goods weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
