Job summary

Mount Carmel, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a full-time cook to prepare and portion meals for patients, the cafeteria, and catering services. The role requires experience in hospital or large-scale kitchens and collaboration with dietitians on modified diets.

Day shift with responsibilities that include ensuring meals are ready on time and maintaining kitchen standards. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math skills, and aFood handlers' certification

Qualifications

• Education: High school Graduate or 1-year equivalent experience with commercial production food service.
• Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Licensure / Certification: Food handlers' certification within 6 months of hire.
• Experience: Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of large quantity cooking and following recipes.
• Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision; collaborate with team.

Responsibilities

• Obtains ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary.
• Lifts and carries medium to heavy food and equipment.
• Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure timely food readiness.
• Consults with dietitians regarding modified diets and menu reviews for quantities.

Position Purpose:

• In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Cooks and prepares food for distribution to patients, the cafeteria, and catering services

• This position is eligible to all candidates 16+ in age

What You Will Do:

• Obtains appropriate ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary

• Responsible for lifting and carrying medium to heavy food and equipment.

• Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times.

Minimum Qualifications:
