Job description

Overview:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for properly preparing all foods listed on the respective menus, including grilling, frying, broiling, baking, boiling, braising, and poaching in an assigned kitchen outlet or pantry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Creates an atmosphere that encourages guests to choose Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain for gaming entertainment; actively builds and retains guest relations and mentors team members to provide superior guest service.
  2. Prepares foods using various methods, ensuring dishes are aesthetically appealing and cooked to specifications.
  3. Recognizes a variety of sauces and applies them appropriately to all entrees on the daily menus.
  4. Keeps work station neat and clean.
  5. Assists co-workers to ensure efficient kitchen operation.
  6. Performs duties for special events and parties as needed.
  7. Maintains cleanliness of the work area; reports safety issues, hazards, and accidents.
  8. Properly stores foods, including leftovers from previous functions.
  9. Ensures items are fully stocked and equipment is in good condition.
  10. Properly closes down work stations at the end of shifts.
  11. Assists with setup and teardown for special events, including carving, cooking, and station preparation.
  12. Attends meetings and completes follow-up tasks as assigned.
  13. Performs work consistently and reliably.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Attends seminars as needed.

Qualifications:

This position typically requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. A culinary apprenticeship, an Associate’s Degree from a culinary institution, or industry experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must obtain and maintain valid driver's license and relevant certifications per regulations.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Knowledge of: Basic food preparation and line work experience.

Ability to:

  • Work flexible shifts and schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and guests.
  • Use all relevant kitchen equipment.
