Job summary

Lake Nona Wave Hotel is seeking a kitchen professional to prepare, cook, and garnish distinctive dishes with care in a fast-paced environment. You will read recipes, follow measurements, and maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness while supporting the culinary team.

Qualifications

  • Two years of culinary training or related kitchen experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and food service equipment.
  • Able to read recipes and follow measurement instructions precisely.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and garnish meals in a fast-paced culinary environment.
  • Maintain safe food preparation practices and sanitation.
  • Read recipes and measure ingredients accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with team and guests.
  • Ensure presentation quality and assist when needed across stations.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstation, walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage.

Responsibilities
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while utilizing safe food preparation practices.
  • Communicate effectively with all sorts of interesting people.
  • Must be able to read recipes and follow measurement instructions accurately.
  • While performing duties, one will be required to regularly taste, touch, and/or smell products utilizing appropriate methods to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Must possess sensory awareness and color perception as well as a distinctive palette and sense of depth to aid in the performance of the culinary arts. Must show knowledge of Classical European, International, and World Cuisine, including philosophies and principles.
  • Inspects presentation quality and expedites the line as needed. Have the ability to work any station in the culinary area if required to do so.
  • Maintain workstation and equipment safety and cleanliness . Maintain walking coolers, freezer, and dry storage clean, organized, and in accordance with proper sanitary food conservation.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, and report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
  • Complete safety training and certifications.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
Qualifications
  • This is a demanding business, and we look for flexibility with workdays and hours, but it's also a lot of fun!
  • Bring two years of culinary training or related kitchen experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food products, and food service equipment. Food Handler certification required.
  • People Person. The best part about food is enjoying it with others.
  • Must be able to read recipes and follow measurement instructions accurately.
  • A qualified applicant is a "people person" who is flexible with their schedule, loves to cook, and knows more than a thing or two about kitchen safety and cleanliness.
