Job description

Job Responsibilities

As Cook I, you will be responsible for preparing food according to recipe specifications and ensuring the overall success of our daily culinary operations.

  • Ensure all ingredients used in dishes are of the highest quality.
  • Work well under pressure and maintain restaurant standards during busy periods.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods; keep a notebook for recipes, procedures, and prep lists.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with other employees; communicate professionally.
  • Communicate daily with Sous Chef(s), Executive Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef regarding hotel status, special arrivals or guests with dietary/allergic restrictions, kitchen status, cleanliness, and improvements.
  • Communicate daily with stewards to ensure kitchen is running at the highest possible sanitary standards; give and log daily, weekly, monthly projects to stewards.
  • Maintain high hygiene: ensure wash and sanitized kitchen is passed to next shift; ensure stewards follow cleanliness; perform daily line checks for quality and shelf life.
  • Manage product usage to minimize loss; monitor portion sizing; assist supervisor with logs and checklists for State and Internal audits.
  • Update recipe books; manage protein/plate counts; maintain maintenance logs; perform thorough walk‑in checks.
  • Plate using proper service ware; prepare shift line‑ups and inform F&B staff of specials and menu changes.
  • Maintain storerooms and dry storage; order par items; follow company and safety policies; report maintenance problems and hazards; complete safety training and certifications; store flammable materials properly.
  • Maintain professional appearance; safeguard confidential information; embody company vision and deliver on promise.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Organized and proficient at multitasking.
  • At least 1 year of related work experience.
  • Reliable team player willing to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Food Handling certification (can be obtained during employment).
  • Flexible and willing to meet the demands of a 24‑hour operation.
