Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a Cook to join its food service team. You will prepare soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other items for patient and retail dining areas, following recipes and production sheets in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will operate kitchen equipment, maintain sanitation, and assist with record-keeping and quality checks. This role offers a challenging environment with generous PTO and comprehensive health benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience cooking in a facility or restaurant preferred.
  • Ability to follow production sheets and recipes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items for patient and retail serving areas.
  • Operate a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, shred fruits and vegetables, and trim meat.

Position Summary

Follows directions for preparing, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items for consumption in patient and retail serving areas. Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry or fish for culinary use. Tastes products, reads and follows production sheets, and keep records as needed.
