Woodland Pond Inc. seeks a Cook I to accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, grill, and present a variety of hot and cold foods for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and catered events.

You will read recipes, season and cook meats and vegetables, and assist in food preparation while maintaining high hygiene and safety standards. The role requires flexibility, weekend/holiday availability, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate preferred, or 3 years related work experience.
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to write legibly and follow oral and written instructions; communicate with residents, especially the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foods.
  • Prepares and cooks meats and vegetables using frying, grilling, and sautéing.
  • Monitors and trains others to maintain high quality of service to residents.
  • Portions food attractively on plates with gravies, sauces and garnish as appropriate.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment; follows HACCP policies.

Position SummaryThe Cook I accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, grills, and presents a variety of hot and /or cold food items for various meal periods to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered eventsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*CF indicates Critical Function)Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, serving soups, meats, vegetables, dessert and other foodstuff for consumptionPrepares, seasons and cooks meats and vegetables using skills in frying, grilling, and sautéingAssists in the preparation/cooking of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage (*CF)Reads recipes and/or product directions with accuracyPrepares, seasons and cooks meats and vegetables using skills in frying, grilling, and sautéingPrepares and seasons and cooks starches, vegetables and other food itemsMeasures and mixes ingredients according to recipeMonitors and trains others to maintain highest quality of service to residents at all timesDeep fries, grills and sautés meats, fish, vegetables and other foodsIs able to create emulsified vinaigrette and make Mother SaucesProperly breaks down whole chickenExecutes 3 classic knife skillsConducts appropriate taste test for products as needed.
