The Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research is looking for an Historic Properties Cook to join our culinary team in Rochester, Minnesota. This role provides a unique experience in a calm, supportive atmosphere focused on health and wellness in meal preparation.

The Cook will assist with food preparation for events, contribute to menu creation, and maintain kitchen cleanliness. Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least two years of culinary experience, and knowledge of fine dining standards.

Full-time positions include comprehensive benefits. Compensation is $21.55 – $30.22 per hour.

Responsibilities

Joining the Mayo Clinic Historic Properties culinary team offers an unique experience in the culinary world. In addition to being eligible for the full Mayo Clinic benefit package—including health and dental insurance, PTO, and a pension/retirement plan—the team is known for maintaining a calm, positive atmosphere that supports a work environment free of the stress typically associated with culinary settings.

An Historic Properties Cook will assist in the preparation and plating of food for all events at the Historic Properties, focusing on the highest level of customer service and quality in a fine‑dining setting. You will contribute to menu creation and development with a health‑and‑wellness focus, coordinate with the culinary team to execute multi‑course menus per the event schedule, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and workspaces. You will also assist with cleanup and dishes after events as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two years of culinary experience required—preferably in a fine‑dining setting, catering operation, or commercial kitchen. Three to five years of culinary experience preferred. Culinary education and professional training preferred. Knowledge and skill in preparing a variety of foods in fluctuating quantities, with the ability to coordinate preparation and execution of all menu items in a timely manner, is required. Willingness to focus menus on health and wellness through multiple courses is essential.
