The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Cook Helper/Cashier for Springfield High School for the 2025-2026 school year. We serve approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students across 17 state-of-the-art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Cook Helper/Cashier, you are required to:
- Have a High School diploma or equivalent
- Have experience in a volume production kitchen environment (preferred)
- Be flexible in your work schedule and willing to participate in professional development
- Be willing to serve on teams
- Relate well to students from diverse backgrounds
- Show enthusiasm in your role
As a Cook Helper/Cashier, you will:- Take direction from the Head Cook
- Prepare food following standard procedures to ensure safety and nutrition
- Adhere to cashier operations, reporting, and maintenance standards
- Follow systems to comply with all regulatory requirements
- Operate all equipment safely and efficiently
- Serve as a contact for issues at your assigned school and report issues promptly
- Assist with monthly inventory under supervision
- Complete required paperwork regularly
- Ensure proper receiving, storage, and rotation of food and supplies
- Work as a cashier as needed
What We Offer:
This position is contracted for 7 hours per day, 188 days per year, Monday to Friday, 6:30 am - 1:30 pm or as assigned. Starting salary is $18.18/hr. All employees receive professional development. The position is for the 2025/26 school year, starting in August, with a $1,500 bonus paid in November.
