Job Description: Cook Helper/Cashier

The Springfield City School District is seeking a Cook Helper/Cashier for Warder Park for the 2025-26 school year. We serve approximately 7,500 students from Pre-K through grade 12 across 17 state-of-the-art buildings in west-central Ohio. Our district values diversity and aims to promote social and emotional learning, offering opportunities such as a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, a digital learning lab.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking direction from the Head Cook in the assigned kitchen
  • Preparing food using standard operating procedures to ensure safety and nutrition
  • Adhering to cashier standards of operation, reporting, and maintenance
  • Following systems to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Operating equipment safely and efficiently according to SOPs
  • Serving as a contact for issues at the school and reporting them promptly
  • Assisting with monthly inventory under supervision
  • Completing required paperwork regularly
  • Ensuring proper handling and storage of food and supplies
  • Working as a cashier as needed

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a volume production kitchen environment (preferred)
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to participate in professional development
  • Ability to relate to and teach students from diverse backgrounds
  • Enthusiasm for the role

What We Offer:

  • Part-time position, 3 hours/day, 188 days/year
  • Monday to Friday, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm (or as assigned)
  • Starting salary: $18.18/hour
  • Position for the 2025/26 school year, starting August
  • $1,500 bonus in November
