Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale operation preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals per menu and recipes; ensure timely service.
• Follow safe food handling guidelines per policy and state/federal codes.
• Assist with food ordering, storage and preparation as designated by supervisor.
• Maintain standards for food preparation and quality of service; use substitutes when required.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, steamers, ovens, slicers and more.
• Prepare diet and consistency-modified foods as needed.
• Finish pre-preparation tasks like washing and cutting produce.
• Serve attractively with gravies and garnishes; taste for palatability.
• Monitor and record food temperatures prior to service.
• Assist with menu changes under supervision; coordinate with dietitian.
• Follow cleaning and sanitation schedules; ensure equipment is clean.
