Job summary

Ohio Head Start Association, Inc. in Troy, OH is seeking a Catering Cook to prepare meals for Head Start children Monday through Friday daytime. You will follow cycle menus, ensure meals are nutritious, safe, and served in family-style settings.

Requirements include two years of commercial food preparation experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates must pass a background check, drug test, and physical; ServSafe II certification is provided for funded

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in commercial food preparation.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and snacks following a cycle menu with recipes provided, ensure food tastes good, looks appealing and is portion-controlled.
• For children with diet restrictions, follow the child’s plan of action to meet developmental, medical, and feeding needs.
• Deliver all food to the classrooms ready to be served as family style meal service.
• Assure proper sanitation and maintenance of all food service equipment.
• Maintain inventory to ensure items are available and to ensure accurate ordering from food vendors.
• Complete and submit food service reports (cycle menus, purchase orders, food inventory worksheets, and temperature logs).
• Supervise any Cook Assistants if onsite.
• Collaborate in nutrition education activities for staff, parents, and children.
• All positions require a background check, drug test, and physical.

Candidates with two years in commercial food preparation and a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license in good standing qualify.

CORS pays for educational advancement for motivated employees with a heart for service; required ServSafe II certification costs will be paid by CORS.

Work hours are Monday-Friday daytime.

Serve our Head Start children varied, nutritious, tasty, and appealing meals and snacks. Purchase all food and supplies necessary and keep records as required, maintain a kitchen as spotless as your own!
