Job Title: Cook

The Cook prepares, serves, and forecasts all items needed for menu services according to recipes and production methods as directed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Prepares all foods, ensuring they are ready for service as scheduled, in the proper amounts, ensuring quality, quantity, and presentation.
  2. Ensures all foods are served at the proper temperature and merchandised to enhance product quality.
  3. Follows recipes and prepares foods in proper portions for service.
  4. Reviews menu items with staff regarding content and service methods.
  5. Alerts staff to menu changes in sufficient time for action.
  6. Prepares for the next day’s service by reviewing menus and ensuring proper preparation according to recipes and forecasted amounts.
  7. Assists with sanitation of the food service area, including cleaning equipment and workspaces.
  8. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area at all times.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Walking up to 7 hours, sitting up to 1 hour, standing up to 1.5 hours; handling, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (1-50 lb.); occasional stooping, bending, climbing, reaching above shoulder level. Must have normal hearing, and general, far, and peripheral vision.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Effective communication in English required.

Training and Experience: Previous cooking experience, preferably in a hospital or restaurant setting. On-the-job training provided.
