Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, is seeking a food service cook to join our patient-centered team. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, you will prepare assigned recipes, follow production sheets, and ensure quality and patient satisfaction across meals.

You must have a High School Diploma or GED, one year related experience, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand/walk 6–8 hours, and push/pull carts throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: One year related experience.
• Special Skills: good interpersonal and communication skills; able to read and speak English; hospital and department orientations completed.

Responsibilities

• FOOD PREPARATION: Maintains established standards for high food quality by using recipe cards, training and teamwork to provide the utmost in customer satisfaction.
• COOK: Prepares assigned recipes according to production sheets and requests to obtain required quality and quantity.
• SANITATION: Maintains sanitation in-service areas and prep areas to ensure a sanitary work environment.
• SAFETY: Enforce department safety policies to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
• ADDITIONAL TASKS: Performs any additional assignments as required by the supervisor/manager.

  • 4.1 Assure the safety of patients, staff and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies and procedures.
