Job summary

Noland Health Services, Inc. seeks a dedicated Food Service Worker to prepare meals for residents and guests, following posted menus and standard recipes, while adhering to regulations and organizational policies.

You will handle portion control, monitor food temperatures, assist with inventory and dietary changes, and ensure trays meet dietary requirements. A high school diploma and at least one year in a food service setting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in a food service setting.
• Experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or school cafeteria preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals according to planned menus and recipes.
• Ensures meals are palatable and served with proper portions.
• Maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and service.
• Assists in inventory and storage; follows FIFO and notifies supervisor if stock is inadequate.
• Assists in establishing production lines to ensure timely meal preparation.
• Supports diet changes and new orders to meet residents’ meal requirements.
• Inspects meal trays to ensure correct diet is served.
• Keeps equipment and work areas clean using approved agents.
• Performs other duties and assists supervisor as needed.

Summary Of Duties

Prepare food in accordance with posted menus and from standard recipes for residents and guests of the Community in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations as well as established Organizational policies and procedures to promote quality food service.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepares and serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepares food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
• Uses proper technique to taste prepared food to ensure quality prior to service, and take corrective action if needed.
• Maintains proper temperature of food during preparation and service.
• Records food temperature prior to meal service and takes corrective action if needed.
• Assists in inventory and storage of food and supplies. Date stock and rotate to ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) principle is followed. Notify the supervisor if the supply is inadequate.
• Assists in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared in a timely manner.
• Assists in processing diet changes and new orders as received to ensure all residents receive a meal as ordered.
• Inspects meal trays to ensure that the correct diet is served to each resident.
• Follows established procedures to clean equipment and work area as needed using approved cleaning agents.
• Ensures dietary staff tasks are completed as assigned in the absence of the supervisor. Reports concerns to the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in a food service setting required. Experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, other related medical facility, or school cafeteria preferred.
