A leading long-term care facility in Portland seeks a full-time Cook to maintain kitchen cleanliness and prepare diverse meals. Responsibilities include following menus, portion control, and assisting in meal service. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in a similar environment, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Cook - FT (Food Services)
Maintain the kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner. Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities. Follow prepared menus and portion control guides. Prepare special diets accurately and record food temperatures. Prepare pureed foods as needed. Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments. Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets. Assist with serving meals and clean cooking areas and serving carts. Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses. Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff. Present food appealingly to residents. Cooperate and supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
Supervisory Requirements: This job has supervisory responsibilities when the Dietary Supervisor is absent.

Skills:
Certificates: Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate. Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred. Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health.
Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling frequently; lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
