Job summary

Great Falls College Montana State University invites applications for a Cook in the early childhood program. You will plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children, ensuring CACFP compliance, state licensing, and health and safety standards in a child-friendly environment.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm. The position is classified hourly with a 0.4 FTE, and compensation ranges from $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience preparing meals for groups, preferably in a child care, school, or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of CACFP regulations and meal pattern requirements preferred.
  • Food Handler’s Permit and/or ServSafe Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks that meet CACFP meal pattern requirements.
  • Maintain accurate CACFP records, including menus, production records, and meal counts.
  • Order, receive, and properly store food and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, and ensure food preparation, handling, and storage practices comply with local health department regulations.

Job description

The Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving
nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled in the early childhood program. The Cook ensures compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program ( CACFP ), state licensing regulations, and health and safety standards while promoting healthy eating habits in a positive and child-friendly environment.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm.
