This position functions as a cook, performing a full range of cooking and food preparation for meals for prisoners and staff in a correctional facility using MDOC standardized processes, recipes, menus, and reports. The role involves working in the facility kitchens with prisoner workers.
This position acts as a lead worker, overseeing prisoner workers in the preparation and service of meals for prisoners and staff, following MDOC standardized processes, recipes, menus, and reports.
Typically acquired through the completion of high school.
The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants with a felony conviction in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants with misdemeanor or felony convictions are ineligible until satisfactory completion of any imposed sentences, including parole or probation.
