Job Content

Meal preparation in accordance with prescribed diets and consistencies in accordance to the planned menu. Communicate any dietary concerns/information to the dietitian as needed. Shopping for food and supplies as needed and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area, which includes kitchen equipment, in accordance with the agency standards and regulations. Additionally, the Cook will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized pantry/food storage area. Other duties may include inventory checks, attending meetings and trainings as needed and menu planning.

The Cook will be assigned a minimal amount of personal care responsibilities, but may need to play a greater role if program is short‑staffed.

On average, the Cook spend approximately 75% of the scheduled shift engaged in meal preparation and 25% with Direct Support Professional responsibilities.

Requirements

The candidate should have some cooking experience and organizational skills. The ability to learn, follow a menu and work independently is also required. The candidate needs to be a self‑starter, able to create a menu and shop accordingly within the budget. Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus.

High School Diploma/GED is required. Proof will need to be provided prior to employment.

Valid NYS Driver's license is required.
