Cook - Camp Forbes

Under immediate supervision, prepares and cooks food in a hospital or institution. Performs related duties as required.

Typical Tasks:
  • Supervises the preparation of meals.
  • Prepares and cooks meats, vegetables, and soups.
  • Prepares cereals, desserts, salads, and special diets.
  • Prepares breakfast, dinner, or supper.
  • Serves food at steam tables.
  • Weights food for diabetic patients.
  • Tags carts.
  • Delivers food to dining room.
  • Clears tables.
  • Cleans utensils, sinks, tables, and other equipment.
  • Handles supplies.
  • Maintains food records.
  • Takes inventory of supplies.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required. Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in commercial, institutional, or related volume food preparation including one (1) year preparing meals according to specialized diets.

Additional Duties:
  • Prepare meals according to the state-mandated menu, following all nutritional guidelines by the state of Ohio.
  • Maintain health and safety regulations during food prep.
  • Check and review all expiration dates on food deliveries.
  • Record date received on all food items, if not already pre-dated by vendor.
  • Record date opened on all food items if not completely used.
  • Review and submit all invoices supplied by vendors for food products and supplies received.
  • Monitor food and water temperatures.
  • Complete daily/weekly inventory reports.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen area, including all equipment, supplies, countertops, appliances, and dishwashing stations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized office area.
