Position Hours: Full Time 10am - 6:30pm, 5 days per week including 1 weekend shift per week.

Essential Functions

  1. Handle and prepare food.
  2. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  3. Performs all tasks relating to Culinary Services including food preparation, production, cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, pots, pans, etc.
  4. Follow oral and written directions.
  5. Follow written menus and recipes.
  6. Understand therapeutic diets.
  7. Prepare food items in accordance with therapeutic diets.
  8. Responsible for avoiding food waste.
  9. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
  10. Responsible for use and care of food service equipment.
  11. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments.
  12. Attend in-service training programs for Culinary Services staff members.
  13. Maintain required records for substitutes, food temperatures and cooler temperatures.
  14. Relate to residents, families and other staff in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
  15. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  16. Assume responsibility of supervisor when the Chef Manager is not present.
  17. Perform simple arithmetic and units of measurement conversions used in foodpreparation.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to Resident Rights policies at all times.
  2. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  3. Observe all infection control policies.
  4. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  5. Follow and assume accountability for all policies and procedures contained in the Staff Handbook.
  6. Plan work in an efficient manner and demonstrate dependability.
  7. Support campus wide activities by offering ideas, participating on committees and attending staff and resident events.
  8. Function as an active member of the team, supporting fellow team members and working effectively with other individuals and teams.
  9. Understand and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.
  10. Know, understand and exemplify the mission and values of Jennings Center for Older Adults. Respect, Compassion, Community, Discovery of Potential and Celebration of Life.
  11. Perform all other related duties as directed by your supervisor and/or manager.
