Job summary

Unity House in Troy, NY is hiring a Cook Assistant for a full-time hourly role in our Food and Nutrition Services program. You will assist with food preparation, maintain a clean kitchen, and help with deliveries and daily duties in a supportive shelter environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (10:15 a.m.–6:15 p.m.), a wage of $16.00–$16.98 per hour, and a $1,200 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. Training will be provided to those new to cooking.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid/Clean NYS Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass background checks (including fingerprinting).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food prep at a confidential shelter, following food safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Support daily cleaning routines.
• Pick up food and supply orders as needed.
