CenterPointe Hospital of Columbia is seeking a PRN Cook to prepare fresh, nutritious meals in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will lead kitchen staff, ensure sanitation, and support daily operations while providing flexible scheduling and patient-focused service.

The role requires strong food service experience, knowledge of safe handling practices, and the ability to work weekends/holidays as needed. ServSafe certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two or more years’ experience in food service for institutions preferred.
• ServSafe or similar food safety certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.

• Cook and prepare food according to approved menus.
• Direct activities of workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
• Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
• Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Work with Food Service leadership or Dietitian to ensure menus are varied, nutritionally balanced and appetizing.
• Perform and coordinate food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities.
• Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and appropriate regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and cook meals following approved menus
• Lead and support kitchen staff during meal preparation and service
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards are maintained
• Monitor inventory and maintain kitchen supplies
• Work with leadership to deliver balanced, appetizing meals
• Support daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cleaning, and organization
• Provide coverage for scheduled absences, vacancies, and increased staffing needs

What You Bring

• Food service, restaurant, healthcare, or institutional cooking experience preferred
• Knowledge of safe food handling, preparation, and storage practices
• Strong teamwork, organization, and time management skills
• ServSafe Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred.
• Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions, such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state, facility.
