Job Summary: Palisades Tahoe is seeking cooks of all experience levels to work at our on-mountain and base area restaurants. Responsible for daily preparation of a variety of food items, maintaining cleanliness, and other tasks as assigned by the venue manager.

Applicants must be 18 years of age.

Hourly:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay for this position. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, training, location, and other factors. The listed range is one component of the total compensation package, which may include incentives and region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $18.68 - $24.28 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks: include the following; other duties may be assigned:

The Prep Cook is responsible for:

  • Washing, cleaning, chopping, dicing, grating, slicing various food items and storing them properly.
  • Preparing ready-to-eat products and items for easy service.
  • Referring to the Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
  • Understanding and adhering to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work station.
  • Informing the Kitchen Manager of product shortages, equipment issues, or food quality problems.
  • Attending all safety meetings.
  • Assisting kitchen stewarding staff as needed.

Education and Experience for Prep Cook:

Required:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a California Food Handlers card.

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One to three months experience in food or customer service.

The Entry Line Cook is responsible for:

  • Grilling menu items, using deep fryer, and preparing soups and special items.
  • Ensuring food is prepared quickly, efficiently, and of high quality.
  • Understanding station operations, recipes, and techniques.
  • Executing daily prep lists.
  • Guiding other cooks and prep staff.
  • Monitoring sanitation standards.

Additional Education/Experience for Entry Line Cook:

Basic culinary skills and at least 6 months in a professional kitchen.

The Experienced Line Cook is responsible for:

  • Strong understanding of stations, recipes, and techniques.
  • Executing mise en place and quality assurance tests.
  • Ensuring techniques are correctly followed for consistent results.
  • Managing orders, stock rotation, and communicating product shortages.

Additional Education/Experience for Experienced Line Cook:

Strong culinary skills and at least 12 months in a professional kitchen. Knowledge of CA Health Code and temperature logs.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to walk, talk, see, hear, taste, and smell regularly. Capable of standing for 90%+ of a shift and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have good vision and focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: May be exposed to weather conditions.

Hazards: Loud noise, fumes, odors, gases, dusts, mists, electrical, mechanical, burns, radiation, and chemicals.

Equipment Used: Commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning agents.
