This position functions as a lead worker overseeing prisoner workers in the preparation and service of meals for prisoners and staff in a correctional facility, using MDOC standardized processes, recipes, menus, and reports.
The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants with misdemeanor or felony convictions are ineligible until they have satisfactorily completed any imposed sentences, including parole or probation.

New hires and returning employees who have been away for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), which includes 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their role, plus additional online training.
