The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), seeks an experienced and motivated individual for the Cook 3 position. DDD provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, focusing on high-quality, flexible, and member-driven services that promote independence and community engagement.

Applicants must not be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, must not have a principal interest or close family with a principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and must not be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Job Duties:

• Prepare food using mechanical/electrical kitchen equipment and hand tools safely and hygienically, following specific diet requirements. Assign work based on menus and schedules, and guide subordinate staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment.
• Develop shopping lists based on approved menus, complete grocery shopping within budget, and manage inventories.
• Measure and portion food according to dietary needs, and collaborate with nutritionists on dietary specifics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge in: Basic math, special therapeutic meal prep, cooking techniques, food storage, sanitation policies, leadership principles.
• Skills in: Oral and written communication, kitchen tool and equipment use and maintenance, preparing nutritious and appealing food, reading menus, completing forms and inventories, using computer software.
• Ability to: Present food attractively, maintain positive relationships, interpret and apply regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in food preparation.

Pre-Employment Requirements include holding a valid Food Handler’s Permit, a Level One fingerprint clearance card, background checks, medical examination, and compliance with employment eligibility verification. Driver’s license requirements apply if driving is an essential job function.
