Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) is seeking a Cook 2 to join our team! This is a full-time position with a varied schedule of four 10-hour shifts per work week, including holidays and alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience equal to two years of full-time work in quantity food production in a commercial, military, hospital or institutional setting.
• OR successful completion of a military, vocational or community college program in commercial cooking and one year of qualifying experience.
• OR continuous state executive branch experience with Cook 1 level for at least six months.

Responsibilities

• Lead other employees in meal preparation and assist the supervisor by instructing and distributing work.
• Maintain orderly operation of the Dietary Department, answer phones, and handle special dietary requests.
• Ensure opening/closing procedures for food service are completed and respond to living units’ needs.
