Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Cook 2 to prepare and cook menu items on demand in a high-volume dining facility. The role involves ensuring food safety, maintaining cleanliness, and providing leadership to other cooks. Applicants should have cooking experience and relevant certifications. A Cook 2 prepares and cooks individual menu items and meals on demand, directly from orders placed by customers using standardized recipes and safe, sanitary procedures in a high-volume dining and food service facility. The Cook 2 is responsible for ensuring all food products and meals are handled safely and at correct temperatures. This position also provides relief leadership to work areas and other cooks as needed by business demands.
Additional duties include maintaining adequate products and supplies, requesting necessary orders, utilizing mise en place in food preparation, checking deliveries for quality and accuracy, assigning and reviewing work, and training staff. Keeps records of food production, service, leftovers, and recipe changes.
Other responsibilities involve preparing simple foods, salads, sandwiches, grilling, chopping vegetables, slicing meats and cheeses, adjusting recipes to reduce waste, preparing beverages and snacks, using commercial kitchen equipment, and ensuring food quality and temperature standards are met.
