THE ROLE:

As a Cook 2 at NoMI, you will be part of a dynamic and passionate culinary team at one of Chicago’s premier dining destinations, located within the Forbes-rated Park Hyatt Chicago. Renowned for its refined cuisine, impeccable service, and elevated ambiance, NoMI offers a unique opportunity to work in a luxury environment where precision, creativity, and consistency are the standard.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing elevated dishes with finesse across advanced cooking stations, working with minimal supervision while showcasing deep expertise in culinary techniques, ingredient knowledge, and presentation. You’ll play an active role in maintaining the quality, efficiency, and rhythm of the kitchen by supporting daily prep and service, upholding rigorous standards of cleanliness and organization, and mentoring junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality, and a genuine passion for craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous growth. WAGE INFORMATION:

The hourly rate for this position is$27.45. This position is also eligible to earn overtime and premium pay under certain circumstances.

Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of line cook experience in a fast-paced, high-standard kitchen is required. Prior experience in a luxury hotel, fine-dining restaurant, or Forbes-rated environment is highly preferred. A culinary degree or equivalent hands-on training is also advantageous.
  • Culinary Expertise: Demonstrated ability to execute advanced cooking techniques, with a strong understanding of ingredients, seasoning, timing, and refined plating. Must be able to work autonomously with confidence while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
  • Leadership: Capable of guiding and mentoring junior team members to ensure efficient station management and uphold kitchen standards. Exhibits a proactive approach to training, communication, and collaboration.
  • Guest Focus: A genuine desire to exceed guest expectations by consistently delivering high-quality cuisine with care and precision. Maintains a guest-first mindset even in high-pressure service periods.
  • Professionalism: Polished communication skills and a calm, respectful demeanor are essential. Must demonstrate discretion, reliability, and an elevated sense of responsibility reflective of a Forbes-rated environment.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a high-energy kitchen. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work efficiently during overnight shifts.
  • Availability: Must have a flexible schedule with availability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support the demands of a luxury culinary operation.
