Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Woodward Resource Center (WRC) seeks a Cook 1 to join our team. This full-time role offers a 40-hour week with a variable schedule between 6:00 a.m.

and 5:45 p.m., including weekends, with opportunities for advancement. As part of the WRC team, you will provide essential food service support to residents, preparing meals for up to 500 individuals and ensuring safe, high-quality service in

Qualifications

• Experience equal to one year of full-time quantity food production in a commercial, military, hospital, or institutional setting.
• Successful completion of a military, vocational, or community college program in commercial cooking.
• Employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as a Food Service Worker.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for up to 500 individuals.
• Follow recipes to prepare menu items using commercial equipment.
• Adapt textures to meet dysphagia needs.
• Monitor temperatures and follow safe handling practices.
• Complete temperature logs and recipe feedback records.
• Serve food with care and attention to detail.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen through daily/weekly/periodic cleaning tasks.
