Overview
The Cook is responsible for consistent cooking, preparing, and garnishing of quality food product. This position is instrumental in maintaining a clean, organized, and harmonious kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Follow kitchen safety procedures at all times.
- Follow handwashing and other personal and kitchen sanitation procedures at all times.
- Report safety, sanitation, and other similar violations to the chef.
- Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment according to instructions.
- Set up stations, including utensils, equipment, and other needed items.
- Receive and store food according to standards, ensuring proper rotation and temperatures.
- Review production schedule at the beginning of each shift to ensure all items are stocked.
- Ensure all items are prepared according to recipe cards, plating guides, and photographs.
- Maintain cleanliness continually by disposing of trash, wiping down work areas, cleaning equipment, and returning utensils.
- Follow governmental health and safety guidelines and handle toxic substances properly.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with all staff.
- Participate in meetings to learn about new products, procedures, and opportunities.
- Ensure a safe work environment for co-workers and guests.
- Be knowledgeable about property facilities and services to assist guests proactively.
- Promote property outlets to guests.
- Assist guests with directions and find locations within the property.
- Resolve guest complaints following property procedures.
- Create a positive environment to maximize employee potential.
- Listen to feedback to improve personal and property performance.
- Work as part of a team to deliver exceptional service.
- Participate in shift meetings.
- Always greet guests and colleagues warmly.
- Understand and embody the company's mission, values, and culture.

Qualifications
- Secondary school degree preferred or at least 2 years of service experience.
Skills
- Basic language and communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and write simple instructions and memos.
- Basic numerical skills.
- Patience, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with others.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move around the workplace and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and working with hands above shoulders.
- Tolerance to heat, cold, chemicals, and noisy environments.

Additional Details
For this position in New York, NY, the expected hourly base salary is $33.32.
