Job summary

Colonial Vista in Wenatchee, WA is seeking a Cook to join our dietary services team. This role prepares a variety of meals in large quantities, follows portion control, and ensures special diets are prepared accurately while maintaining a safe, sanitary kitchen.

You will report to the Dietary Director, participate in orientation and training, and help ensure resident satisfaction through appealing food presentation and collaboration with staff across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility.
• Ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with managers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Prepare a variety of flavorful meals in large quantities while following portion control guidelines.
• Accurately prepare special diets as required.
• Record food temperatures for all meals.
• Prepare pureed foods as needed.
• Maintain sanitization practices and cleaning schedules.
• Assist with serving meals and ensuring resident satisfaction.
• Report resident care concerns to the Administrator or Dietary Director.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Ensure food presentation is appealing to residents.
• Collaborate with staff across departments.

Full Pay Range: $17.50- $23.00

• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
