Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is hiring a Cook to prepare high quality, safe foods for staff, visitors and patients in a hospital setting. You will follow food safety regulations and MercyOne's standards while delivering attractive meals.

Full-time position at 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) with varied shifts including weekends; prior food service experience preferred; HS diploma preferred but not required. MercyOne offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of food service experience.
• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, write and understand English; communicate effectively with staff and patients.

As a Cook at MercyOne, you will prepare high quality, safe foods for staff, visitors, patients, customers and physicians. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

• Prepares food according to guidelines.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Operates, cleans and sanitizes equipment.
• Supplies high quality and attractive food
• Assists supervisor in ordering JIT foods/supplies.

Schedule

• Full-time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week)
• Varied shifts based on departmental needs
• Weekend and holiday rotation required

General Requirements

• Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties
• Minimum of 1 year food service experience or a combination of formal education and experience beyond high school.
• Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.
• Ability to maintain a professional positive image and to work effectively with the public.
• Ability to maintain a fast pace of work.

Education

• High School diploma preferred but not required.
