Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a professional line cook for our DC-area kitchen. The ideal candidate will prepare, cook, and present menu items according to established recipes, ensuring timely PM service and high quality, while maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards.

Flexibility for weekends and holidays is required. Candidates should have prior cooking experience, knowledge of techniques and equipment, and be able to stand long hours and lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Prior cooking experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work PM, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • ServSafe Certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure timely meal service during PM operations.
  • Set up, stock, and break down the kitchen station for PM service.
  • Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Assist with inventory, labeling, dating, and food storage.
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.

Location

  • Ensure timely meal service during evening operations

  • Set up, stock, and break down the kitchen station for PM service

  • Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards at all times

  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation

  • Assist with prep work for the next day as needed

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils at the end of shift

  • Follow all health department regulations and company policies

  • Communicate effectively with kitchen team members and supervisors

  • Assist with inventory, labeling, dating, and food storage

  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly

Qualifications
