Job summary

Elderwood is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our long-term care facility in a full-time role. Shifts available 6:00 AM–2:00 PM or 10:30 AM–6:30 PM with rotating weekends; candidate will prepare nutritious meals and support resident well-being.

The role emphasizes following recipes, rotating menus, and ensuring safety and sanitation across all kitchen activities in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs age; High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food preparation experience required.
• Ability to organize food preparation activities.
• Ability to perform cooking tasks safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of food preparation and production process required.
• Pride in quality of food and service.
• High cleanliness and hygiene; health suitable for serving food.
• Respect for residents’ privacy and rights; dignified treatment of residents.
• English language ability at intermediate level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to determine food quantities needed for regular, mechanically altered and other special diet needs.

• Ensure that sanitation and safety standards are met in the preparation, cooking and production line stages of food production.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of specified equipment and the general kitchen work area.
• Supervise food being cooked; ensures that food is held and served at correct temperature.
• Assist with preparation of and distribution of foodstuffs.
