West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks a school cafeteria cook at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School. The role involves cooking and baking, following nutritionally sound menus, managing inventory and ordering, and possibly covering for the Cafeteria Manager.

Responsibilities include preparing daily menu items, maintaining temperatures, cleaning, receiving merchandise, and supporting special dietary needs. Candidates must pass the WV state competency test, lift 50 lbs, hold a valid County Health Food

Qualifications

• Must pass WV state competency test for Cook.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Maintains current County Board of Health Food Handlers Permit.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• CPR/First Aid.

• Follows written, verbal, and other directions.
• Participates in cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and storage area.
• Receives and inspects incoming merchandise.

• Other duties may be assigned by the principal and/or child nutrition director.

DESCRIPTION:

The cook is responsible for cooking and baking duties, following nutritionally sound menus, inventory and ordering. The cook may assume additional duties in the absence of the Cafeteria Manager. Nature of the work requires moderate physical effort, continuous standing and use of commercial food service equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares a variety of menu items for daily service; Maintains temperature readings; Follows written, verbal, and other directions; Participates in cleaning, maintenance of kitchen and storage area; Sets up and arranges food to be served; Receives and inspects incoming merchandise; Assists with preparation of special dietary items for identified students; Attends in-services and workshops as directed; Other duties may be assigned by the principal and/or child nutrition director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass or have passed the WV state competency test for Cook; Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.; Maintains current County Board of Health Food Handlers Permit; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; CPR/First Aide.

SALARY:

Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule.
